WOmen of abnormal constitution

In WOMEN OF ABNORMAL CONSTITUTION, this Body of Women and the Doctor are bound together, confronting each other with the impossible pursuit of surviving the system that they are trapped into exacerbating. What happens when the best form of survival is a kind of betrayal? What happens to one’s personhood when her identity is replaced with a diagnosis? For centuries the lives of these women have been immortalized and immobilized by their position in the hospital and the story that was prescribed to their body. But what would happen if we saw into these lives past the staged portrait and bodily details? WOMEN OF ABNORMAL CONSTITUTION explores who these women may have been. From La Salpêtrière to the present moment, how are women made to survive within institutions and systems of power whose progress is rooted in their hardship? Will they and can they ever escape those systems?
